Let’s Go Vintage Shopping On The Oudgracht!

For those who seek unique finds and budget-friendly fashion, thrift stores have become a serious pastime. The popularity of thrifting is rising, especially among younger generations, which reflects their conscious effort towards sustainability and individuality.

Like many Dutch college towns, Utrecht has a large number of fun and distinctive shopping spots for the cheap at heart. There is an unusual abundance of second-hand shops, antique stores, vintage boutiques, artsy studios and charity shops in the Dom City to hunt through. The “ARM” (poor folks) thrift stores are best, as they are run by the city with volunteers who make great deals!

The Oudegracht (the ‘old’ canal through the middle of town) is where many of these quirky shops are gathered together. From about the Gaardbrug (Dart Bridge) to Bezembrug (Broom Bridge) there are more than two dozen interesting storefronts, with many more within a few blocks radius.
